Toppan Digital Language Acquires Meinrad, Expands into DACH Region – slator.com

July 11, 2024

Language service provider, Toppan Digital Language, has confirmed that it has acquired Austrian LSP, Meinrad, marking the company’s first presence in the DACH region. The terms of the transaction were undisclosed.

Christophe Djaouani, President of Toppan Digital Language, told Slator that there was a “strong cultural alignment” of the companies. “Having built out our sales and operations across the US, Asia and the UK in particular, we wanted a foothold in the DACH region, given the large opportunities in our target sectors,” he said.

“Our goal is to help Meinrad reach more clients across the region. In the long term, we will expand the range of sectors that we sell into in the DACH region, as well as expand the share of services in existing established accounts,” he added.

Founded in 1993, Meinrad provides language services and technology solutions to a range of industries, including life sciences, medical devices, and other regulated segments, to clients globally, with ca. 40 employees.

Founder and CEO of Meinrad, Meinrad Reiterer, stated, “Joining forces with Toppan Digital Language is a fantastic opportunity to expand our reach while maintaining our shared commitment to excellence.”

“It will enable both companies to better serve our clients with leading-edge technology and expertise while drawing from our rich customer-centered culture,” he added.

Djaouani confirmed that Reiterer will stay with the business as part of the deal, with Meinrad adopting Toppan’s branding during the course of this year.

Alexandra Jarvis, Chief Strategy Officer at Toppan Digital Language, stated, “from our first meeting with the Meinrad team, we knew that our cultures of customer service and innovation were aligned. We are very pleased to welcome all the team to join us on our growth journey.”

The acquisition is the first in two years for Toppan Digital Language, when it acquired TranslateMedia in May 2022, following the company’s first acquisition of GlobaLexicon in August 2021.

With the acquisition of Meinrad, Djaouani forecasts 2024 revenue “to be around USD 60 million on a pro-forma basis” — just three years since Toppan Digital Language was set up — thanks to its acquisition strategy and organic growth.
