Atlanta, Georgia-based Translate.One, the language services division of legal solutions firm Trustpoint.One, has acquired language services provider (LSP) Intertext. The deal closed July 31, 2024.

Intertext is the latest in Translate.One’s recent string of European acquisitions, beginning with Confluent Translations (2018), Commit Global (2022), and inWhatLanguage (March 2023).

At the end of 2023, Translate.One snatched up UK-based Balthasar Ltd., followed by UK healthcare interpreting provider Enable2 in June 2024.

Dorothee Orf, CEO of Intertext, co-founded the Barcelona-headquartered company in 1988. The LSP reportedly serves more than 500 clients, located in the DACH region (49%), Spain (42%), and other European countries (4%), plus India and China (5%).

Orf and the entire Intertext team will stay on after the acquisition. Translate.One is still weighing whether to maintain Intertext’s brand or integrate it into Translate.One.

Translate.One President Peter Smith told Slator, “We have known each other for about two years. Early on, we discovered that our companies align closely in our customer service philosophies and our innovative use of technology.”

Smith described the timing for this acquisition as ideal “due to our ongoing expansion of AI-enabled solutions.” Translate.One uses both “proprietary and third-party products, with some overlap with Intertext’s systems,” he added. 

Similarly, the companies have some offerings in common. Intertext’s translation services include sworn institutional translation; advertising copy; audiovisual translation; and scientific, medical, and technical translation. 

“We have also expanded our client base across various industries, including life sciences, eLearning, and tech,” Smith said. “Additionally, as a trend, besides AI and machine translation, we see an increased demand for multimedia localization and on-demand video and phone interpretation services to support global communications.”
